For us in Italy is hard to find many hobbysts that are able to mantain fishes rare like these...we are trying to spread awareness in breeding and mantaining fishes the best we can, but it's an hard work

This summer i, like every year in that period, put my fishes outside in small ponds... because of their age i decided to put my old male and old female alone in a single 50l "tank/pond" My thought was: "they are so old....they are no going to breed again..."...men...i was TERRIBL...

Absolutly right, indeed this tank was standard-misure 50l, so 50cmx30cm base area.
I think too small for a couple...70cm, in my humble opinion, it would be much better

I'm planning to build by myself other tanks with large bottom area and small water column

No, almost all my tanks are monospecific...
B. foerschi tank was, as i said, a 50l - maybe too small for the both of them, male and female - and when i took off the female, the male was completly alone.

In my case it was just the opposite...the only one time he reached the full time incubation was when i took the female off the tank...
Keeping both of them toghether never worked, even if they spawned several times...

The other many times they spawned, my tank was just too small (50l) for the male, who, with his mouth full of eggs, pursued the fem...

I've been searching for M. ocellatus for years....and nothing to do...i saw them only once, last year at AcquaBeach (fair near Cesena, Italy), but i was not able to bring them back home with me... If you'll bring offspring in Dijion i will be absolutely happy to buy some of them :D By the way...wich...
