Hi, I'm Yvan, a late PhD student (30 years old), working on comparative ecology of resident and migrant birds in dry northern savannas of West Africa.

I currently have five veiltails, two males (royal blue and pale yellow) and three females (royal blue, cambodian and red DT), the first bought three months ago.

The first spawn (royal blue x cambodian) was not decided and not prepared. Thus most of them died after ten days because of a pollution by not consumed food (powder). The last 30 are 4 weeks old and seem to be doing ok even if they are small for this age.

I have also just had the second spawn (yellow x cambodian) : about one or two hundreds but they are 4 days old. I look forward to having more success with this. Another attempt during the following days : red/gold HM ( a loan) x red DT

However, veiltails are "learning fish" and I'm looking for unicolor halfmoon but it's difficult to find it.

A first project : Taking the Mystery out of Yellow Wink ... thus i'm looking for intense yellow, orange and chocolate HM pairs (without metallic and marble genes)...In a few days, i will receive red and cambodian from a spawn between yellows HM.
As yellow colored bettas do not result from the action of a single gene, I hope to obtain homozygotous recessive Bettas for all genes and 100% of yellow from a spawn between two yellows. Orange x Yellow, Red from Yellows x Yellow and Cambodian from Yellows x Yellow will help to understand (?!?) and Chocolate x Yellow to improve the intensity of yellow without introducing red (?!?). It will a long and difficult project but interesting and exciting as well !!!

A second project : Keep and breed non metallic and non marble iridescent colors wich tend to disappear, replaced by metallic iridescent colors. Thus I'm looking for a royal blue HM pair.

And only for the pleasure, I'm looking for White Opaque HM and as soon as possible I will receive a pair of PK yellow dragon...maybe learning about yellow from us.

I hope to learn a lot of the experiences of members and share my findings in the future if I've got a single and definitive house !!!!!

Dans cette section, j'essaie d'être le plus complet possible pour l'instant - ça demande trop de temps pour que je poursuive par la suite - au niveau des photos... pour permettre un jugement réaliste des défauts/qualités des souches.

Etre multi-forum est très gourmand en temps, j'espère que ce site sera source de retours de tout horizon

Ce n'est pas prévu, mon planning est très changeant et chargé en cette "fin de cycle"... mais j'espère un jour venir, surtout si la maintenance adéquate de l'une des deux espèces du complexe albimarginata devient autre chose qu'un souhait
